Black Lives Matter at School: A Day with Holyoke High School's Restorative Justice and Ethnic Studies Programs
Holyoke High School
Holyoke, MA
Share this event:

Please join the Pa'lante Restorative Justice Program and Ethnic Studies program at Holyoke High School in Holyoke MA  for a daylong, youth-led training for students, educators and organizers interested in learning about these two innovative models for working toward racial justice in schools.

Saturday, February 8 9AM-4:30PM
Holyoke High School, 500 Beech St., Holyoke MA

This event is part of the Black Lives Matter at School national week of action, a nation-wide movement of young people fighting for a more just schooling system. At Holyoke High, we already have implemented two of this movement's core demands-- restorative justice and ethnic studies-- and we are excited to share about our work. There will be multiple workshops to choose from in both areas geared toward both youth and adults, and opportunities to plan next steps for implementation in your setting.

About sliding scale:  All registration fees go directly to supporting our critical work to build youth power and transform our schools, so please pay at the high end if you can!  That said, we want our work to be accessible and affordable to everybody. We ask you to determine where you fall on the sliding scale. A way of thinking about this is if you can afford to buy plane tickets, own a house, are gainfully employed, or if an institution (i.e. school or employer) is covering your registration, you fall on the high end and if you are struggling to make ends meet, are on SSI or receive any kind of assistance, are disabled and QTBIPOC, a student etc, you fall on the low end.

Lunch: A light lunch from El Rincon, a favorite neighborhood Puerto Rican restaurant, will be provided, with vegetarian and gluten-free options available.
