ABOUT MAYTE VALDES
Mayte is highly trained in diverse dance techniques such as Classical ballet, Modern jazz and tango. She began dancing when she was 6 years old. At a very early age she performed with the company Miami City ballet". In the production of The Nutcracker" Touring throughout Florida USA.
She continued her studies in Buenos Aires Argentina at the "Teatro Colon" and with various ballet masters.
Mayte was trained in Argentine Tango by the greatest tango masters in Buenos Aires. She has performed in many tango shows such as " Chiquilin Tango", "Tango en el Maipo" "Tango historias breves" and "Tanguera", the musical" among others. In 2004 she toured with the company "Tango Pasion" throughout Spain, Sweden, Russia and Germany. With the company Tango Buenos Aires she traveled the United States, and has also traveled Mexico, Egypt and Asia, England, Turkey and Israel sharing her talent and passion for tango.
In Buenos Aires January 2007 Mayte began performing with Carlos Barrionuevo in prestigious Tango houses such as "El Viejo Almacen", El cafe Tortoni" and Chiquin. In December 2007 they formed part of the cast of Forever Tango" performing at the Teatro Coliseo Podesta in La Plata Argentina for the release of the companies New DVD.
In 2008 they choreographed and performed for the "Teatro Zinzanni and Snoqualmie Casino. Mayte has performed with Grammy award winning pianist Pablo Zigler.
In September 2009 She joined the company "Tangueros del Sur" Romper el Piso performing at the New York City Center in NYC,
2010 Vail International Dance Festival" 2011 "Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival" and 2012 Israel Dance Festival. In September 2013 she joined the company Tango Essence performing at the New York City Center on Broadway.
Mayte is the lead character in "Niña Del Tango" a short film directed by Jason Eberly that premiered in Los Angeles and New York in 2013 which received a nomination for Best Short Film after being an official selection of 11 international film festivals, including two Oscar qualifying. Mayte received a nomination for Best Actress as well as the "River Rhythm Award" at the Silent River Film Festival and continues her formation in the art of acting.
Carlos & Mayte currently form part of the most prestigious Tango festivals in the US and are working on the pre-production of their first feature film "Eliana".
ABOUT CARLOS BARRIONUEVO
Carlos was born in Santa Cruz Argentina.
He began to dance tango when he was 12 years old and developed his technique by studying the great masters of tango. He was invited to perform with Ricardo "Chiqui" Pereyra, Enrique Dumas, Raul Lavie, Maria Grana, Guillermo Fernandez and Mariano Mores. In April of 2005 he won the championship of the Patagonia Tango Festival in San Carlos Bariloche.
Carlos has formed part of many Tango shows such as, Tango Emotion" "Tango Historias Breves", "Sabor a Tango", "Tango Odisea", and " Tangorama" among others. Traveling throughout England, Italy, Russia, Chile, Turkey, Israel, Uruguay, Canada, United States and Mexico.
In September 2006 Carlos was assistant choreographer of the "Teatro Argentino de la Plata" for the show "Tangomanon.
