Healing to Joy Part 2: Reclaiming
This performance will celebrate the power and artistry of Black dance traditions, honoring our legacy while presenting bold, new works that speak to our time and how we see, share, and experience JOY.
Audiences will witness firsthand how restorative justice can move us toward the healing we need during these challenging times. Well open the evening with a reflective and intentional space-setting ritual to align our hearts and minds as an Oakland community. Audiences will see segments of Part I and In Healing to Joy Part 2: Reclaiming, we are collaborating with David Elliott to create an original soundscape that guides us through the act of Reclaiming our Joy. Through poetry, song, play, drumming, and the lived stories of generations brought to the stage, you will hear and feel the heartbeat of our community. And in true Dimensions fashion, well close with audience participation, inviting everyone to move and groove in the moment with DJ Fuze!
