NWFF patrons will be required to wear masks that cover both nose and mouth while in the building. Disposable masks are available at the door for those who need them. We are not currently checking vaccination cards. Recent variants of COVID-19 readily infect and spread between individuals regardless of vaccination status.

Series - Live Shows
About the festival:
Black Punk Weekend centers around the documentary film Afropunk, and release of the book, Black Punk Now both by James Spooner, who will be in attendance throughout the weekend.
Black Punk Weekend features live music performances and a James-curated collection of other impactful Black punk films. On the last day of the festival (Sunday), Black & Tan Hall will host the Black Punk Brunch, where we will honor local artist and punk pioneer Kimya Dawson with an award; Q&A to follow!
Program Highlights:
Screening of James Spooners Afropunk
The critically acclaimed 2003 documentary Afropunk explores the intersection of music, culture, and activism within the Black (and often isolated) punk community. Screening followed by a Q&A with director James Spooner!
Live music at Black & Tan Hall
In keeping with the theme of cultural celebration, we plan to feature live music performances by local Black artists who embody the spirit of resilience and creativity. The music will span genres and eras, reflecting the diversity of Black musical expression. Featured artist: Black Ends! More bands to be announced.
At the Black Punk Brunch at Black & Tan Hall, we will present an award to our honored guest Kimya Dawson.
Curated collection of Black revolutionary films
Throughout the weekend, well be filling the Forum wall-to-wall with Black punk and revolutionary films, curated by James Spooner. Each film will include a guest speaker or panel discussion!

Ticketing, concessions, cinemas, restrooms, and our public edit lab are located on Northwest Film Forum's ground floor, which is wheelchair accessible. We have a limited number of assistive listening devices available for programs hosted in our larger theater, Cinema 1. These devices are maintained by the Technical Director, and can be requested at the ticketing and concessions counter.
The Forum does NOT have assistive devices for the visually impaired, and is not (yet) a scent-free venue. Our commitment to increasing access for our audiences is ongoing, and we welcome all public input on the subject!
