Process, Product, Performance: An Evening of Dance
"Process, Product, Performance: An Evening of Dance" marks the culmination of the second phase of a unique multi-city choreographic exchange between the artists of ONE Movement Project and Yolande Snaith, artistic director of the San Diego-based company IMAGOmoves.

For this phase of the choreographic exchange, the artists of One Movement Project will show an excerpt of their newest work-in-process alongside Snaith's most recent work "Of Body and Ghost."

"Of Body and Ghost" is a dance theatre collaboration between dance maker Yolande Snaith, composer Kris Apple, writer / dramaturg Roswitha Gerlitz and vocalist Barbara Byers. The work is an ethereal rite of passage through the experience of aging. Movement, text, images, music and song join forces to create a poetic synthesis. The solo performer negotiates tensions between scientific fact, memory, embodied experience and fantasy in a surreal journey through time, space, gravity and spirit. Questions of human mortality in relation to our modern world are grappled with, whilst celebrating life in the present moment, and the beauty of the human bodys expressive capabilities.

One Movement Project (OMP) is comprised of Atlanta-based artists Alejandro Abarca and Emily Christianson, Philadelphia-based artist Lillian Ransijn, and San Diego-based artist Alicia Peterson Baskel.

OMP will continue its collaborative creative process begun in San Diego in July 2019. Reunited in the studios of Oxford College and Core Dance for one week, the four artists will create an authentic movement world that blends their interests and points of view while embracing their shared commitment to process, curiosity, and honesty. Working as an ensemble, the group will at times clash, at other times coalesce, and always strive to coax structure, form, and meaning out of both chaos and measured experimentation.

In the end the audience will witness the uniquely real and raw moving relationship painstakingly constructed by the artists within a specific duration of time.

Performances will take place in Williams Hall on the campus of Oxford College of Emory University.
Thursday, Nov 14 and Friday, Nov 15 at 7:30 pm.
The shows are free, but reservations are encouraged.

A little back story:
The artists of OMP have been working together since fall 2016. Their initial long-distance creative process resulted in a series of performances in Atlanta and San Diego in 2018. In July 2019 OMP again engaged in creative research during a 7-day residency with Yolande Snaith, artistic director of IMAGOmoves and director of dance at the University of San Diego California.

Special Thanks to Oxford College at Emory University, University of California- San Diego, and Core Dance for their ongoing support of this choreographic exchange.
