Liquidation

Set in Manny's mind, which greatly resembles a closeout furniture store, we follow as he slips in and out of daydreams, memories, and reality. His interactions with his old friend, Lane, his sister, Alexis, his college roommate, Trapper, and his girlfriend, Jazz, explore his relationship with relationships. Where do we find love and does that love have to come all from one place?

Manny M, late 20s-early 40s.
Clerk. Stalled in life. Indecisive. Exploring his relationship with relationships.

Lane M, 18-early 20's.
High school student. Smart. Unsatisfied. Likes that Manny and him hate everyone but each other. Mannys oldest friend.

Jazz F, 20s-30s.
Dental Hygienist. Kind. Tired of games. Mannys current flame.

Alexis F, 20s-early 40s.
Bartender. Kind of a total mess but owning it. Mannys sister.

Trapper M, 30s-mid 40s.
Philanthropist. Good time guy. Mannys college roommate.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT:

SAMANTHA MARCHANT is the resident dramaturg at Buffalo NY's Alleyway Theatre and graduated from Spalding University's MFA Program in Creative Writing with a concentration in Playwrighting (Fall, 2015). At Spalding She studied under mentors Charlie Schuleman, Kira Obolensky, Sam Zalutsky, and Gabriel Jason Dean. Her work has been produced in Buffalo and has had readings in Buffalo, Chicago, Houston, Louisville, and Boulder. She lives in Buffalo NY exploring where he writing and theatre career will take her. She is committed to telling engaging stories with heightened theatricality, humor, and complex characters.
