Health Justice Conference 2020: Visions of Equity
The 2020 Health Justice Conference at Upstate will focus on envisioning healthcare equity in the future and the necessary actions that will get us there. We will reflect on our societys prolonged history of injustice that has created the health disparities we currently see, while inspiring future healthcare professionals to speak up and take charge both in and out of the hospital.
This year we will be offering several unique workshops that will focus on topics including the racial disparity in infant mortality, gun violence, implicit bias and health issues affecting undocumented children.
There will also be three panels:
-one for high school/undergraduate students that will focus on health professional school application process and increasing minority student admissions
-another for health profession students on balancing activism and academics
-a third for health professionals that will focus on using your position as a health professional to create societal changes.
Breakfast and Lunch will be served.
