Sewing 101
Dreaming up a seductive costume and sexy reveals is the fun part of conceiving a new act. Bringing the costume to life, however, can be challenging. From finding pre-made pieces that don't work with your movements or removal, to spending hours hand-stitching something you could easily finish with a proper machine, the frustration may cause you to lose sight of the end creation.
This workshop will help you get comfortable with your own machine or prepare you to buy one for yourself with confidence. We will review the following:
- Types of machines and their purposes - Winding a bobbin - Threading the machine - Basic stitches - Different feet - Trouble-shooting/safety - Working with difficult fabrics
You can find the materials and tools needed for this workshop below. If you do not have something listed or if you have questions about the items, send me an email at laratailored@gmail.com. I can provide most of the items.
- Your sewing machine (it's best to learn on the machine you will use the most often but if you do not have one, let me know) - Sewing machine tools (typically come with a machine and includes different feet, bobbin, needles, mini screwdriver etc.) - Test fabric(s) or current project - Scissors - Bobbin - Thread (standard spool)
