Poly Workshop 101: The Essentials of Poly Relationships
Please join our presenter to discuss all things Poly. Well be touching on many aspects of open relationships:
Open Honest Communication- Well discuss various techniques to help you through what can be a very emotional experience. Communication is key in poly relationships.
Poly Terminology- There are many terms youll here over & over again in the poly/open relationship community with more being added everyday. Having a grasp on the more common ones will help you understand & communicate in a clearer fashion.
Poly Relationship Styles- Hierarchical, Solo, Kitchen Table, Poly/Mono, Metamor, Primary... there is a plethora of ways to conduct open relationships. Well discuss them all & maybe youll find one that fits your lifestyle.
Poly & BDSM- Yet another twist to open relationships, however they can fit well together & create wonderful exciting experiences. In this segment consent, negotiation & boundaries will be the focus.
STI Communication- Whether you plan to be fluid bonded or not its a conversation that needs to be addressed. Ill give you ideas on how to create an open less awkward approach to STIs.
NRE (New Relationship Energy)- Its a wild ride to be with someone new. Well go over some of the ways to still have fun but keep a straight head during this very exciting time.
Emotional Bandwidth - Wed all love to have several partners. However with work, life & possibly children what does that logically look like. This topic will cover strategies for everyday Poly life.
Jealousy- Weve all felt it at one time or another. Poly can really hit that button hard. There are ways however to conquer this feeling & become friends with it so to speak. It can actually be an ally if understood properly.
Our presenter has been in poly/open relationships for 7+ yrs, run the Tacoma Poly Munch, been asked to speak at events many times on the subject, participated in several panel discussions & taken many classes over the yrs regarding healthy poly relationships.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF PBS TO ATTEND THIS CLASS
This workshop is going to encourage active participation, but we want to make sure we have an educational and comfortable experience for everyone involved. We follow these principals of teaching consent:
No One is required to participate in anything that makes them uncomfortable. If at any time you feel pressure to participate, you should feel free to speak to a representative of the space during or after the class or workshop.
You are not expected to contribute to the discussion in any way if you do not wish to.
The instructor will inform the workshop attendees of anyone working as a teaching assistant bottom, as well as any of their pre-negotiated rules regarding how the bottom will participate to make sure that attendees are given full awareness of consent.
If there is something unclear in the workshop, you are not required to request clarification at the time, if you wish private clarification, the instructor will give contact information so you may get that clarification if needed.
