Navajo Weavers Event Support Luncheon
The Institute for Research on Trauma and Resilience is holding a fundraising luncheon to bring a group of Navajo elders from Black Mesa, Arizona to the California State University Channel Islands Campus. The event will be titled Remembrance and Renewal:  Navajo Resilience through Weaving Traditions on April 3rd, 2019, in conjunction with California State University, Channel Islands, as part of the university's Native Voices exhibit.  The event will feature elders of the Dine Nation sharing their wisdom, songs and traditions. Speakers in the event's lecture series include Dr. Christine Gailey, Dr. Ivana Mora and Dr. Lee Greer. Interactive workshops, including a weaving workshop, will be held and traditional Dine rugs will be sold with one-hundred percent of the proceeds going to the Navajo Weavers.  The event is free and open to the public and will begin at 10AM.

In order to bring the elders and provide supplies for the students to participate in the workshop we are holding this fundraising event. At the event there will be Jalisco style food catered, and several talks will be given by PhD level lecturers on a variety of related and highly relevant topics.  We will also hold a fun auction with art from an award winning local California artist.

We look forward to seeing you there and appreciate your support.
