An Evening with Fr. Greg Boyle, SJ
Our Lady of Guadalupe is excited to host Fr. Greg Boyle, a Jesuit priest and founder of Homeboy Industries. Fr. "G" is an inspiring figure who has been working in gang intervention in L.A. since the late 80's. In his talks, he shares stories and much wisdom about difficult realities, humanity, restorative justice, community, and God's boundless love and compassion.
Fr. G will be talking with us about the impact of trauma and the way our lives can be changed through encounter with one another. When relationships are built and kinship is formed, the trajectory of all our lives can be changed for the good, leading to healing and restoration. As opposed to the fleeting happiness we often seek, we can find a deeper wholeness in kinship and Love.
Father Greg is the author of the 2010 New York Times-bestseller Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion. His 2017 book is the Los Angeles Times-bestseller Barking to the Choir: The Power of Radical Kinship.
He has received the California Peace Prize and been inducted into the California Hall of Fame. In 2014, the White House named Father Boyle a Champion of Change. He received the University of Notre Dames 2017 Laetare Medal, the oldest honor given to American Catholics.
