Mental Health First Aid Training
Almost 20% of North Americans will receive a mental health diagnosis during their lifetime. But, in any given year, only 40% of people with mental health challenges access care for these challenges. And in most states, only 3% of healthcare dollars are allocated to mental health care. Given this information, addressing mental health in our family, schools and neighborhoods can feel daunting.
But it doesn't have to be! ANYONE can learn to better support people living with mental health challenges or substance use disorders! Please join us at Leaven Community in NE Portland for a daylong Mental Health First Aid training on Wednesday, February 27th!
Mental Health First Aid trainings give resilience-focused, non-stigmatizing and easy-to-understand information on various mental health diagnoses. These trainings also offer tools to support people during a mental-health-related crisis such as suicide, self-injury or an opioid overdose.
Over a million people in the US have taken this course and reported feeling more able to support people they know, love, or work with who are experiencing changes in their mental health.
