Working with Addicted Survivors of Sexual Assault/Abuse, a Chemical Dependency Training Consortium Event
Goal of Training
This core level training will provide attendees with an understanding of working with chemical dependency clients who have experienced sexual assault/abuse in their childhood and/or adult life, including both genders. This training will assist attendees in understanding the links between chemical dependency and the trauma that is associated with sexual assault. Family structures and dynamics will be discussed. Components of this training include working with survivors, laws around sexual assault, the impact it has on children, short and long term impacts of sexual assault/abuse, and utilizing community resources, such as referring clients to advocacy centers. Participants will gain skills in developing appropriate treatment plans for survivors of sexual assault.
Behavioral Objectives
Participants of this training will be able to:
- Identify the link between sexual assault/abuse and chemical dependency,
- List the short term and long term impacts of sexual assault/abuse,
- Share information on the laws regarding sexual assault,
- Assess for the limitations of accessing and maintaining services for survivors, and
- Develop safety planning for survivors of sexual assault, including maintaining recovery.

Trainer
Stacey Spencer, B.S., is an advocate with the Emergency Support Shelter, working with survivors of sexual assault and sexual abuse. She received her Bachelors in Psychology from Washington State University and is currently studying for her Masters degree in social work. She has been through extensive training regarding the impacts of sexual assaults and has spoken to colleges, schools, and organizations about sexual violence.
Pre-registration and payment in advance is required.
This course has been approved by CDTC as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, for educational credits. NAADAC Provider #100385. CDTC is responsible for all aspects of their programming.

The CDTC Refund/Cancellation Policy:
For full refund, cancellation of attendance must be received by the CDTC at least 3 days prior to the event.
Cancellations made in less than 3 days of the event are subject to a $15 handling charge.
Occasionally, changes are made due to speaker availability or unforeseen circumstances. The CDTC will send out an email announcement to the registration contact and provide an update on our website.
If we are aware of bad weather in the area, the CDTC will extend the full refund deadline to include the morning of the training. The CDTC still must receive notice of cancellation of attendance prior to 10 a.m.
Lunch: There is a one hour lunch break on your own.
