Executive Function  Daily Life Skills for Independence

Workshop Overview: (Large Group Session in Theatre)
Executive function difficulties are common in children, teens and young adults with ADD/ADHD, Anxiety or Autism. What is Executive Function? It is the daily living skills most people take for granted. Learn how to determine a child's strengths and challenges in planning, self-organization, restraint, emotional regulation and preparedness. The Resource Center Program and its generous funders and donors are making this workshop available in Willmar.

Light Breakfast & Lunch provided.

Strategy Session: (Small Group Session)
After lunch, participants will break into small groups and work on personal strategies for their family member. In addition, there will be time for question and answer with the staff from the Autism Society and The Resource Center Program.

Target Audience: Parents, family members, grandparents, self-advocates, professionals, educators, caregivers and the community.

About Workshop Speaker:  Amy Carrison, PsyD, LADC

Dr. Carrison is completing a postdoctoral fellowship with AuSM. She completed her doctorate of psychology at Saint Marys University of Minnesota in 2016. Dr. Carrison uses cognitive behavioral strategies in therapy to help clients change problematic behavior patterns. She has experience in psychological assessment and testing with the goal of providing individuals with targeted interventions to overcome areas of need. Dr. Carrison has worked with individuals on the autism spectrum in day training program and group home settings. In addition to her work at AuSM, Dr. Carrison teaches courses at Saint Marys University  Rochester Campus. Dr. Carrison has been licensed in Minnesota as a drug and alcohol counselor since 2002 and has worked in a variety of substance abuse treatment settings with both adults and adolescents.

to education, advocacy and support designed to enhance the lives of those affected by autism
from birth through retirement.

About The Resource Center Program: Formed in 2008 by caring parents raising children with a disability in West Central Minnesota. Partnerships with local, regional, and statewide health and human service organizations, nonprofit agencies, medical professionals and educators strengthen its outreach to families and share TRCPs goals of education, support and connection.
