Event

Course: Forage & Pasture Management
This 7-week course will be held on Wednesday evenings, 6-9 pm. The 1st class is on October 18. The 7th class is on December 6. (We will skip Thanksgiving Week, Nov. 22).

This is a very practical course on forages, grazing, pasture, hay, and silage! Well cover plant growth, grazing techniques, nutritional value, storage, fencing, and much more.

You will learn to identify different grasses and legumes, read soil tests, and select and use fertilizers. Topics also include new forage varieties, pasture renovation, intensive grazing, weed control, economic tips, and more. We will also hold review sessions and take field trips.

This course is open to all producers -- beef cattle, sheep, goats, dairy, horses, alpacas, etc. -- beginner or veteran graziers. This course is also open to seed industry personnel, feed suppliers, veterinarians, agency personnel, anyone interested in forages.

Advanced registrations only. Space is limited!

The Instructor is Woody Lane, Ph.D.:
Livestock nutritionist & forage specialist from Roseburg, Oregon. Has taught many popular forage and nutrition workshops in Oregon & around the US and Canada. Has a Ph.D. in livestock nutrition from Cornell University. Is the current President of the Oregon Forage & Grassland Council. In the 1980s was the Beef Cattle & Sheep Extension Specialist for the University of Wisconsin. Has run a consulting business in Oregon since 1990 for giving advice and providing education to ranchers across US.
