Join author and illustrator Heidi Bohan as she shares her publication, with a digital slide show, interactive hands-on displays and original art. "The People of Cascadia" provides a highly visual and comprehensive glimpse into the daily life of four major cultural groups centered around the Cascade Mountains extending from British Columbia to Oregon, and east to Idaho. The book has a strong focus on the environment, natural history and resources that results in an amazingly complex and advanced picture of the social and spiritual culture in the Pacific Northwest.
Heidi Bohan is an ethnobotanist, native plant and cultural expert who has been teaching about Pacific Northwest Native culture and the environment for the past 15 years. She is also skilled in many of the traditional arts such as a basketry, weaving, woodworking, carving and the replication of traditional artifacts which have been used in educational programs for schools, museums and parks around the region. Working for the Starflower Foundation, she helped design and create the native plant garden at the front of Seward Park immediately north of the Audubon Center. www.heidibohan.com for more information on Heidi and her book.
