Race & Climate Justice

We will be meeting on Monday Nov 17 at 5:15 - 7:15 PM. The purpose is to identify the best way to support each other in moving forward on Race and Climate Justice. WHAT's THIS ABOUT?
About 80 people attended 4 workshops led by Dr. Heather Hackman. Attendees included staff and leadership from many of Washington's mainstream environment organizations (Sightline, Climate Solutions, WEC, Sierra Club, 350 Seattle, Puget Sound Sage, and more). Dr. Hackman presented her views on the interrelationship between colonialism, race, and climate change. These workshops were organized by an adhoc team including myself and others. We received good feedback and we wanted to facilitate a way for people move forward, but we thought the most effective way to make this sustainable, would be to involve attendees in structuring the next steps. And the Nov 17 Meeting is the first step.

WHO CAN ATTEND?
Anyone who is interested in Race and Climate Justice can attend. They need not have attended previous sessions with Dr. Hackman. WHAT IS LIBERATING STRUCTURES?
Liberating structures are methods to make everyone heard, in an effective and meaningful manner. It gives voice to those often overshadowed, like the introverted and inexperienced, and creates space for wisdom to be shared, no matter who it comes from. It removes the neutralizes power structures, levels the field, and encourages creative solutions. And it minimizes fear and shame by acknowledging you can't move forward in new ground, without making mistakes.
