Death As A Salesman
Reviewed by Painfully Good Blog:
"Speaking of Painfully Good, last fall I took a trip up to Nevada City to experience Dorothy Truthâs one woman show, Death as a Salesman. Dorothy is the mysterious twin sister of Nevada City painter Douglass Truth. (Douglassâ fantastic paintings are also Painfully Good, but that will be the subject of another postâ)
This absurdly hilarious show combines humor and gender bending with the serious topic of Death and how to make your inevitable encounter w/ the big guy (a.k.a. Todd) more bearable.
Dorothy tells the story of her beginnings as an invisible child struggling for cookies and a nesting area in the Truth household and how she eventually gets hired as a Public Relations manager for the New Death Incorporated."
More:
"Death, Himself bought me three drinks. What else could I do but go to work for him?" said Dorothy Truth, who, after a too-long career in cafeteria delivery systems, is now Chief Executrix Officer of The New Death. "We just try to bring a smile to people every day," she said of the performance's strategy.
While Death is still mandatory, Truth claims that there are exciting new options and upgrades in the works. "You can't cheat Death," she says, "but you can work with him."
The play is 2 hours long, with an intermission and 6 songs.
