The Bald Soprano
The Bald Soprano was inspired by texts of English conversation when playwright, Eugene Ionesco, was enrolled in courses to learn the language. It is now the Romanian-born, absurdist writer's most widely-performed and celebrated script and enjoys a permanent production at Paris' Théâtre de la Huchette. True to it's absurdist makeup,The Bald Soprano does not offer readily available or tangible themes. However, using the backdrop of a middle-class English interior, two suburban English couples, an English maid, and a local Fire Chief, Ionesco's (often-times comedic) motifs of time inconsistencies and ineffective, disjointed communication undoubtedly convey a sense of his views on the absurdity of modern life.
The show runs 80 minutes with no intermission.
