Reaching for the Stars: Anything is Possible, an SOS Villages Greece Fundraiser

Reaching for the Stars: An organized charity event to benefit SOS Children's Villages Greece (Vari), taking place on Thursday November 13, 2014 at the Grand Luxe in Toronto.

What is our goal?
Our goal with this gala is to raise a minimum of $25,000 CDN to 'adopt' an SOS family and SOS Mother in the SOS Children's Village in Vari, Attica, Greece. The raised funds will cover all costs for this SOS family for one year. These costs include the cost of living, food expenses, educational-professional training, medical expenses, psychological and psychosocial support, and harmonization with the social environment.
Why are we doing this?
We are very excited to announce our upcoming fundraising gala Reaching for the Stars: Anything is Possible, an event aimed to raise funds for the SOS Children's Villages in Greece, specifically for the village in Vari. The SOS Children's Villages believe that every child should belong to a family and grow up with love, respect and security, which is why this recognized organization has provided abandoned, orphaned and destitute children with a new and permanent home.
The economic crisis in South Eastern Europe has deeply affected the lives of children living in Greece, and many families are unable to financially support and properly care for their children resorting to recognized charities and organizations like SOS Children's Villages in Greece for help.
Our goal with this gala is to raise a minimum of $25,000 CDN for an SOS family and SOS Mother in the SOS Children's Village in Vari, Attica, Greece. The raised funds will go directly to the intended beneficiaries and will support the cost of living, food expenses, educational-professional training, medical expenses, psychological and psychosocial support, and harmonization with the social environment.
We believe in working together, we as members of the Greek diaspora in Canada in assisting underprivileged children in Greece to overcome their challenges and reaching for the stars.
This past August, the organizers of this event had the pleasure of meeting with an SOS Village family in Vari and the National Director of SOS Villages Greece, Mr. George Protopapas. The experience reaffirmed our commitment to assist and Mr. Protopapas was incredibly welcoming and transparent in outlining the objectives and overall operations of said organization. We are thrilled to announce that he will be joining us at the Grand Luxe on Thursday, November 13, 2014.
We look forward to your attendance and needed support in making this fundraising event a success; where we will get to socially interact with each other, have fun and help our fellow compatriots in need.
