Cuadro Flamenco workshop: Carmen Ledesma & José Méndez
A 3-day workshop teaches Flamenco in the cuadro
Singers learn letras, and then stay to accompany guitar and dance.
Guitarists learn to accompany letras, and then stay to accompany dance. Technique and falsetas are not offered in this class.
Dancers attend compás class, and then spend the evening learning pasos, llamadas, accompanied by guitar and singing
Everyone learns the codes, structure, and communication that made the Flamenco cuadro an exciting environment.

Carmen Ledesma is a Flamenco dancer from Seville who is regularly seen performing in festivals across Andalucía. Her career as a Flamenco dancer began with training with Sevillano legend Enrique el Cojo and with her maestro Pepe Ríos, the nephew of Diego del Gastor of Morón de la Frontera. She won the Concurso Nacional de Córdoba el premio Juana La Macarrona in 1983. Since then, she has worked with a long list of top artists, such as Antonio Gades, El Lebrijano, Mario Maya, El Farruco, "El clan de los Pinini", and she has danced alongside Concha Vargas. Besides a popular entertainer, she is one of the most sought-after teachers in Seville and outside of Spain.
José Méndez is a Flamenco singer of the Gypsy style of Flamenco, appearing in tablaos, peñas and festivals across Andalucía, known for specializing his singing for dancers. Part of the Méndez clan of Gypsy Flamenco singers, he is from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, where is ancestors La Paquera and "El Pili" are Flamenco legends. José Méndez is a former member of Cristina Hoyos' Flamenco company, and performed with top dancers in Flamenco, including Eva la Yerbabuena, Mario Maya, Manolete, El Guito, Manuela Carrasco, Carmen Cortés, and Farruco.
