Dunava Presents: Harmonies from Bulgaria
For decades, Bulgarian songs have captivated audiences around the world with their beautiful melodies and haunting dissonance. They tell stories of love and loss, of courtship and hardship. And while there are modern arrangements and some recent compositions, many are based on melodies that are hundreds of years old.
In this concert, the women of Seattle's Balkan choir Dunava showcase the variety and striking beauty of Bulgarian a cappella singing, with new repertoire from Dunava's 2014 Bulgarian study tour. They will be joined by Ivan and Tzvetanka Varimezov, internationally renowned Bulgarian performers.
