Barefoot In The Park
Canyon Moon Theatre is delighted to announce its second Season XII production, Barefoot in the Park by Neil Simons warm-hearted romantic hit comedy playing Thursdays through Sundays, November 5-28.
There is trouble in paradise! Free-spirited Corie and straight-laced attorney Paul Bratter return from their honeymoon ready to start their exciting new life together, but things dont go exactly as planned: six exhausting flights of stairs, quirky neighbors and a giant hole in the skylight, through which snow falls. Add to the mix an aging gourmet Bohemian womanizer, who inspires a post mid-life sexual awakening in Cories somewhat shy and frumpy mother.
Barefoot in the Park is about falling in love again with someone after you move in with them. Its message is that after the honeymoon, life and love truly begin commented Noah Lee Margetts, director of Barefoot in the Park.
Margetts brings a remarkable set of international film and theater credits, which include Chaplin with Robert Downey Jr., Batman Begins and Death of a Salesman on London's West End, opposite Tony & Olivier winner Brian Dennehy. He starred, directed and produced Cat's-Paw at The King's Head Theatre in London, for which he received rave reviews from the London critics.
The brilliant set design is by Devin Terreson
Included in the cast as the priggish Paul is Ben Jayston, who has frequently delighted Canyon Moon Theatre audiences as Leo in last years Chapter Two, as the skirt-chasing dentist in Murder at Howard Johnsons, and as Richard in The Lion in Winter. Corie is played by CMT newcomer Mary Elizabeth Wallin, who graduated from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse with a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts Performance and Design/Tech in 2007. She performed in NAUs 2009 production of "The Vagina Monologues". Jonn Lander plays the gourmet womanizer Velasco. For Shakespeare Sedona, Jonn played Gratiano in Othello and Rinaldo opposite Michael Learned in Alls Well That Ends Well. At Flagstaffs Theatrikos Theatre he played the part of Reverend Tooker in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. Lea Gracer, the woman behind SedonaFilmLovers.com, a website informing the community of independent films playing in Sedona, has delighted Verde Valley audiences as Kate Mallory in Romantic Comedy, and appeared in The Vagina Monologues in 2007-2009.
