Macbeth
Miller South begins its 2014 season with an ambitious rendition of Shakespeare's Macbeth. The play will be presented in three short sections, lasting roughly twenty minutes each, providing a new manner of experiencing Shakespeare's work for both young and adult audiences. The violence and otherworldly elements of the story have not been removed, but have been treated with care and compassion by the production staff and student actors.
Macbeth tells the story of a Scottish Thane mad with ambition. He is tempted by dark forces to embark on a journey of treason and treachery ending in his unfortunate demise. He meets witches, ghosts and other supernatural soliciting along the way, while simultaneously exploring deep questions that relate to all human beings.
