Written by Matthew Lopez Directed by Caleb Thurston October 10th-12th, 17th-19th, 24th-26th About the Play
A young, wounded confederate soldier returns to his Richmond manor in the closing days of the Civil War to find his home in ruins and occupied by two former slaves. Though bound together by traditions and history, the three men find themselves divided by a changing world and secrets which threaten each man's freedom. This thrilling character drama won rave reviews off-Broadway in 2011 and is now one of the most widely produced plays in America.
Please be advised: The play discusses mature themes and includes brief profanity, use of racial epithets and a simulated amputation. Though master to slave violence is discussed, there is none shown onstage. Recommended for mature middle schoolers and older.
Presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.
