Northwest Sinfonietta: Taiwan Connection
Sunday, May 17, 2:00 pm - Pioneer Park Pavilion

Taiwan is the focus of this concert, featuring the U.S. premieres of two Taiwanese compositions arranged specifically for our chamber orchestra as part of Taiwanese American Heritage Week. We are also joined by Taiwanese violinist Mae Lin, performing the quintessential Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. The concert concludes with Beethoven's 7th Symphony led by of one of our new Artistic Partners. Eric Jacobsen joins us for this inaugural performance under our new artistic leadership model, and we are excited to work with him. This season-finale concert is one you won't want to miss!

About the Guest Artists
Eric Jacobsen, conductor & Artistic Partner
Hailed by the New York Times as "an interpretive dynamo," conductor and cellist Eric Jacobsen has built a reputation for engaging audiences with innovative and collaborative programming projects. As co-founder and Music Director of adventurous orchestra The Knights and a founding member of genre-defying string quartet Brooklyn Rider, he may take credit for helping to ensure "the future of classical music in America" (Los Angeles Times).

Mae Lin, violin
Mae Lin joined the Seattle Symphony in 2008 as a member of the second violin section. Having grown up in Bellevue, returning to join her hometown symphony was a dream come true. She previously served as Associate Concertmaster of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and Artist in Residence at the University of Evansville with the Eykamp String Quartet. Ms. Lin received a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music in performance from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Naoko Tanaka. At Juilliard, she was Concertmaster of the Juilliard Symphony and Orchestra and a recipient of the Irene Diamond Scholarship.
