The purpose of these workshops is to show young musicians (YES including vocalists!) how to use the knowledge that they already have, and give them practical application tools to be successful in the real world music industry.
We are doing this by breaking down the popular culture rules of musical segregation. 'I play X therefore I am Y.' We are showing them that they have a musical purpose or job. Whether it is a string instrument, woodwind, electric or acoustic they would be divided by vocal, rhythm, lead, and percussion.
It's rather like a driving course. They have all been learning the specifics about the type of vehicle that have to drive, now we are going to teach them the rules of the road. It doesn't matter if you drive a sports car, a bread truck, or a bicycle, you have to learn what to do with yourself once you get on the road. Following the workshops will be an evening concert The evening concert held in two parts. The first half will be a youth jam run by The Rafael Tranquilino Band. If you purchase a ticket to the Industry workshops it qualifies you to participate in the youth jam! Come and show your parents, friends and family what you have learned! Play a real stage with a real audience!
Make sure you stick around because after a brief intermission the workshop instructors 'The Rafael Tranquilino Band' will perform!
***THE EVENING CONCERT BEGINS AT 6PM IN THE MEADOWDALE HIGH SCHOOL GREAT HALL. TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR.***
