Men in Dance - The 10th Anniversary Festival
THE 10TH FESTIVAL OF MEN IN DANCE FEATURES THE BEST AND BRIGHTEST OF CHOREOGRAPHERS AND DANCERS RETURNING TO PERFORM AT THE BROADWAY PERFORMANCE HALL
For the 10TH, we have cast our 'talent' net even further and are very pleased with the results: ~We will be producing two different programs with many of your favorite choreographers from Seattle, New York, Ohio, Oregon, New Jersey, Canada, as well as Northern and Southern California! ~Seattle native and world-renowned choreographer Mark Morris is sending company member Aaron Loux, who grew up and trained here in Seattle, to perform a solo that Mark originally choreographed for himself! ~Long-time dance innovator, Bill Evans returns to Seattle, to teach and PERFORM! ~CIRQUE DE SOLEIL veteran and elite gymnast Darren Bersuk will show us what the human body is capable of when treated to discipline, intensive training and imagination! ~We will be honoring Anne Green Gilbert with a special award for her dedication to support young men who dance! We are also offering family matinee performances on September 27th and October 4th, as we are committed to the idea that dance is for everyone. We hope that this festival inspires young people, particularly young men, to pursue their interest in dance.

At Against the Grain/Men in Dance, we are dedicated to educating the public on the importance of men dancing in contemporary society as they have always danced throughout history. It is our goal to produce performances that represent the diversity, power, artistic integrity and dedication of men who love to dance. Being a male dance artist takes courage, conviction, and an overpowering drive in order to engage in an art that is not often supported by the dominant culture. Our mission is to promote this journey.
