Join us for the Portland theatrical premiere of Wayfinders! Following up on the in-progress music concert last Fall at Alberta Rose Theater, Holcombe Waller presents the fully staged theatrical premiere at Imago Theater - in advance of his November tour to MCA Chicago and Brooklyn Academy of Music!
Come see and support the evolution of Wayfinders, Waller's newest evening length music theater project.
From tidal patterns and ancient ocean voyages, to errand-running and GPS devices, navigation past and present propels this theatrical song cycle. Backed by a chamber ensemble, Waller performs these orchestrated musings on physical and spiritual wayfinding combined with orchestrations of light, sound, and video, resulting in a mesmerizing meditation on the historical importance of finding, and maintaining, one's bearings.
This exploration takes us to a distant future, on a ship deep in space, where our profound cultural interconnection with technology provides the entire frontier with which our impulses to discover, to travel, and to evolve are satiated.
