Women's Rope Class
This is a class for all women who live full time as women and FTM, genderqueer and intersexed persons who feel that they still have links to women's communities. As a female rope switch I find that more often than not that women end up in rope rather than tying even though they have equal or more advanced skills than the guy doing the rigging. There is nothing wrong with women being tied by men (I do it all the time and love it), but this class is designed to encourage women to step up and build their confidence as the awesome riggers they are or can be. With that being said, here's what this class will cover:
This is a 4 hour rope class for women (as defined above) who are interested in learning rope bondage. We will cover the basic foundation for getting started as a rope top and how to integrate these ties into more complex forms. We will cover the following:
- what should be in a basic rope kit
- safety/precautions
- negotiation/communication/consent
- single column ties
- double column ties
- chest harnesses
- ebi/gyaku ebi ties (shrimp and hog ties)
- hip harnesses
The class will be capped at 15 couples/pairs. You must sign up with a partner. This will ensure that everyone is paired up with someone they are comfortable with during the class. There are no gender restrictions regarding the rope bottoms for this class.
The event will be held in Burlington, Vermont at Soul Fire Studio. If you are traveling from out of state you can take the Greyhound or Megabus into Burlington.
About the instructor... Lux is one of the three rope instructors for IFA (the Innovative Fiber Arts) rope group of Vermont. They teach rope bondage twice a month at RU12? in Burlington, VT. You can visit their rope blog where they post weekly rope tutorialshere. She has taken workshops and instruction from a wide variety of riggers in New England for the past four years. She has been a teacher's assistant for instructors at Bound in Boston including Gray Dancer and Giotto. Her and her partner, Tracker do rope performances with the Green Mountain Cabaret.
