Clive Carroll, Acoustic Guitar @ Stoke Newington Guitar Festival
Stoke Newington Guitar Festival is proud to present finger-style acoustic legend Clive Carroll. Clive once lived in Stoke Newington and its an amazing coup to have him play our opening concert in the intimate setting of St Mary's Old Church.

When the music press describes someone as an 'Incredible acoustic talent' and 'Peerless  no other word for it...' and when people like Jean-Christophe Novelli and Madonna are booking that same someone for their private parties then you know that something pretty special is going on. Welcome to the world of UK acoustic guitar phenomenon Clive Carroll...

As a guitar virtuoso and composer, Clive Carroll has a vast musical palette and a sweeping creative vision. Adept at banjo, flattop, and nylon-string guitar, and equally at home playing fingerstyle or wielding a flatpick, Carroll creates music that defies categorization. In the same concert, he'll perform lute tunes from the 1500s and generate soundscapes with his Ralph Bown OM and Boss RC-20 Loop Station.

Carroll's latest album, Life in Colour, points the way for a new generation of acoustic guitarists, sonic nomads who follow their muse wherever it leads, regardless of genre or era. It's not easy to artfully mix altered tunings, renaissance and classical harmony, Delta blues, odd-meter riffage, body percussion, and even jazz manouche, but Carroll makes it sound natural and effortless.

Doors open at 7.00pm for a support slot from local virtuoso gypsy jazz artists Giacomo Smith and Swing on the Square!
