Tarzan

Disney's Tarzan the Musical is based on Disney's animated film and Edgar Rice Burrough's series about Tarzan of the Apes: a boy who washes up on the shores of West Africa and is soon orphaned and taken in by an ape tribe. Tarzan's life takes a turn when a human expedition arrives and he experiences his own kind for the first time. Tarzan struggles with his identity and where he belongs in this musical that features the drum lines made famous by rock legend Phil Collins and the Academy Award winning "You'll Be In My Heart". With a book by Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang, this musical explores the universal theme of how we navigate our sense of self in a plural world. Aerial work and feet stomping dance will be featured in the Albuquerque premiere of this exciting musical. This innovative production is directed by Jessica Barkl; vocal direction and live orchestra conducted by Andrew Alegria; choreography by Jonathan Ragsdale.
