A little more about us and the Salutations Tour:
The Company was formed in 2011 to produce performances that use homes as our venue and families as our impetus for creation. CabinFever's installations include dance, music, art, and theater. For a limited performance run, such as the presentations during each stop on the Salutations Tour, the rooms of the home will be transformed into a living art space, showcasing performances based off of the history and stories of the family and architecture of the home.
Our most recent show, "Heart Content," was presented to five sold out audiences over two weekends, and were the culmination of a 6-month rehearsal process in a historical mansion in Seattle, WA. The performances were critically acclaimed and served as a partial realization of our mission. While the mansion was rich in architectural style and history, there weren't any families currently living there.
CabinFever's mission has always been to work with families in spaces that function as homes. We decided that a summer house tour would be a perfect way to workshop this idea in different cities around the country to explore the themes that may surface around the idea of a home. The company will be in Carnation, WA; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Santa Fe, NM; and Denver, CO. Five new shows in each city and home!
The rehearsals for each home performance on the Salutations Tour will be scheduled during a concentrated period of about 3 days. While the artists working with CabinFever will have performed together and studied each home in advance, our limited time visiting the homes will require us to use our creative intuitions in regards to choreography, music, and artistic choices inspired by that individual home. For this tour, each of our pieces will derive from the subtleties, stories, décor, energy, and history of each home.
