ABOUT THE WORK:

MJ & The Reel Dancers' "DEBUTAUNT" is a contemporary dance and film work that explores the world of southern debutantes. Watch these darling debs conform, rebel, kill with kindness, and party as they prepare for their debut. A sassy showcase of women in white, men in suits, and Emily Post-guided fun.

Kaley Pruitt Dance's "Craft" is an evolution of exerting the creative process and the dancer's physical capacity to a full extent. The piece hones the mental and physical aspects of choreographing the trio form. The dance is about big and full dancing in each muscle membrane and each brain cell of the performers. It is about finding a deep logic then excruciating challenge, and oscillating between those to create more momentum and power felt in audience and dancer alike.

Amy Cova Dance's "such trees as these" explores sustainability of body, environment, and creative process. Through a movement vocabulary that constantly punctuates the highly physical with a quiet gestural sense, Cova strives to shape worlds of turmoil, confusion, hope, and happiness into a single theatrical experience. The dance shares the space with an original composition by Alvin Hill.

Brynne Billingsley shares a movement-driven excerpt from an evening-length work currently in development. It takes inspiration from spirals, in both somatics and nature, evoking storms, real and dream-like. "When They Set the Sea on Fire" will premiere in its entirety at Triskelion Arts on October 23-25, 2014. Original music score by Ratio and Visus.

Kate Martel premieres a new iteration of her ghostly, aggressive solo "Switch." This episodic work probes subtle themes of permission, tension, identity and independence. Music by Alva Noto.

In "Moves," Anna Adams Stark deals with action and inaction. Both are choices. Both have implications. And both welcome a barrage of feeling tones.
