Event

Mevlevi School of Turkish Music
This is the music of whirling dervishes, Turkish music in the classical and devotional traditions.

In these classes, you will learn makam (melodic theory) and usul (rhythmic theory) in the context of studying and performing Turkish classical and devotional repertoire.  Dr. Çevikoğlu will also offer instruction in singing, percussion, and Turkish Ney flute. We encourage musicians of all levels to come learn more. Intermediate to advanced players of Turkish and Middle Eastern classical instruments, and western instruments (such as the string family) that are capable of playing outside the system of equal temperament, are especially welcome.

About the instructor -

Dr. Timuçin Çevikoğlu, Ph. D.
