Coraline
REVIEWS FOR CORALINE:

Kerry Reid, Chicago Tribune: "..there are several well-crafted performances here, including Lanning's seductively vampiric Other Mother, Kevin Webb as the black cat, and Caitlin Jackson and Kevin Bishop as warmhearted, fading theatrical divas."

Aaron Hunt, New City: "It is the first-rate case of some of Chicago's finest singing actors who grab the story by the scruff and nearly leap from the stage into the audience's laps."

Windy City Times: "Coraline brims with creativity from costumes and props to sound effects and choreography....a one-of-a-kind scaled-down musical experience and a true feast for the senses."

Chicago Stage Standard: "beautifully designed, well sung, and thematically intriguing."

Chicago Reader: "If like me, you are not one of the many Neil Gaiman groupies in the audience, you'll still likely enjoy this musical adaptation of Gaiman's fantastical novel."

Black Button Eyes Productions presents the Midwest Premiere of the musical Coraline, adapted from the beloved fantasy novel Coraline by Neil Gaiman, this original musical by Stephin Merritt & David Greenspan tells the story of Coraline Jones, a young girl who has just moved with her parents into a new flat in an old house. Bored by her colorless surroundings and her busy parents, she goes exploring and discovers a door unlike any in the house  a magic door that, when unlocked, reveals  a passage to a strange world like her own, but with one key difference: all the grownups have black buttons for eyes. This new world seems to offer all she wants: parents who are keenly interested in her, toys that sing and dance, neighbors who get her name right. But as this parallel world becomes increasingly unsettling, Coraline must learn the true meaning of bravery to save her parents and herself. Starring Sheridan Singleton as Coraline and Ryan Lanning as Other Mother.
