Noh Society invites beginners to join Experience the Voice of Noh: UTAI, a 5-part workshop series. You will experience utaithe vocal expression of Noh - through breath, voice, and Noh movement. No prior experience is needed.

In our fifth final session of 2025, participants will explore Takasago, a masterpiece of Noh theater that centers on pine trees and celebrates harmony, peace, and eternity. Participants will breathe deeply from the core, awaken their senses, and experience the distinctive vocal power of utai.
While practicing the movements of Noh dance, often described as moving zazen, participants will quietly cultivate mindfulness and reflect upon the past year.

Instruction will be in Japanese & English.

The workshop will be held in a serene Zen temple in Manhattana perfect setting to reconnect with yourself and clear your mind through the power of voice. Expect a meditative, energizing experience that engages your whole body.
