Pilot Program with Jet City Roller Derby
September 10th - October 29th
Wednesdays 8-10 PM at Northgate Community Center
Sundays 7-8:30 AM at Lynnwood Bowl and Skate
This is a non-contact, beginner skate program designed to teach adults 18+ roller skating skills, such as stance, stride, backwards skating, stopping, and falling safely. The goal is for skaters to learn a strong skating foundation which will allow them to begin contact skating and/or training as an on-skates referee at the end of the eight weeks.
If roller derby isn't your personal goal, that's great too! This program will provide you the necessary skills to skate safely in whatever way brings you joy! We're excited that you've chosen to work hard, get sweaty and laugh with us!
Wednesday evenings are the primary practices, with Sundays being an additional time to revisit and reinforce skills, typically in a smaller group setting. You will also have access to attend alternating Tuesday night league practices (as a skater) and scrimmages (as a volunteer).
What you'll need:
Helmet
Mouthguard
Wrist guard
Elbow pads
Kneepads
Quad roller skates (no roller blades)

We have a small collection of donated gear available for loan. We want our sport to be accessible to everyone, so if you are having trouble purchasing the necessary equipment, please do not hesitate to reach out BEFORE the first practice.
After registration, communication will take place via Slack. You will receive an invitation via email prior to the first practice. It is important to check here for practice updates and other important league information.
