New York, New York. July 1, 2025.  After the success of last months 1925-themed event celebrating the 100th anniversary of La Nacionals move to its permanent West 14th Street headquarters in Manhattan, A Night at La Nacional  returns on Tuesday, July 15 as we approach the midsummer or summer solstice mark with a film programme spotlighting actors and live performance, both elements which since antiquity have stood at the center of festivals and communal rituals celebrating the longest day of the year.

A Night at La Nacionals marqueé in July glows bright with three world premieres: Improvisa (dir. Maria Alves Tobias, BRAZIL, 2024), about a young couple in Brazil who for a lark take an improv workshop in Brazil, which soon reveals the cracks in their relationship as art and life blend into each other; Lost Time (dir. Chelsea Knight, USA, 2025), an experimental tale celebrating amateur music, remembering and forgetting; and Hand of God (dir. Nathan Sullivan, USA, 2025), an experimental video collage that uses the hand as a visual symbol to thread together several nationalistic and economic narrativesthe last gasp of an empire, the invisible hand of the mythical free market, and an insatiable desire for spectacle and consumption.

A Night at La Nacional rounds off the programme with the US premiere of Muntjac, (dir. Finn Darrell, UK, 2023), a short classic in the Fantasy Folk Horror genre coming off a long, distinguished international festival run. Bronx World Film and La Nacional welcome you to a worldly mix of contemporary arthouse, performance, music, visual arts and more in the great downtown tradition. Doors open at 5:30 for a mixer, surprise guest performers present at 6:30, the film screening starts at 8 followed by a Q & A and after-party.

ADMISSION IS FREE. DONATIONS ACCEPTED.
