>>> The San Francisco Mandolin Octet presents "Originals" A celebration of music composed specifically for mandolin ensemble, led by virtuoso Achille Bocus and featuring members of the San Francisco Mandolin Orchestra. The program showcases works by Italian virtuoso Raffaele Calacewhose lyrical and technically dazzling pieces helped define the classical mandolin traditionbringing to life the distinct sound of an eight-piece ensemble rarely heard in today's concert halls. From Calace's Serenata Gaia and Sogno to works by Ballerini, Kok, and more, the Octet invites listeners into a musical world where the mandolin takes center stage. The result? Original music + original instruments = an original experience.
