Artsplunk and Aperitivo
Artsplunk and Aperitivo* is an evening inspired by the huge range of perspectives and experiences of Folkestone as an Art Town.
It invites people to see what happens when we weave together the contributions and ideas gathered by Artsplunking around town (and other conversations!). The evening is a mix of playful poetry, chats and art making facilitated by a trio of local artists interested in creating the conditions for conversations across difference. There will be a variety of flavours to sample - aperitivo, ideas and inspirations.

*Aperitivo is an Italian tradition of pre-meal drinks and snacks. The word comes from the Latin word aperire, which means "to open".

Each participant will leave carrying something beautiful!

The workshop is held by

Chloe Osborne is an artist, facilitator and creative director who collaborates with communities, artists and institutions, to imagine and co-create participatory and outdoor art projects and transformative events. Her work often takes the form of installations in hijacked spaces and explores collective art making as a strategy of resistance, rebellion and re-imagining. IG: @chloe_does_stuff

Josie Carter is a poet, artist and community worker whose public work with words is ludic, experimental, and queerly, dubiously poetic. She makes and uses found and devised text to 'reinscribe' the act of writing as durational, generative and collaborative. Based in Folkestone, she works as a facilitator, convener and producer of socially engaged artworks and projects with communities, including with displaced people living in East Kent. Michal Kamil Piotrowski is a visual poet, text artist, and curator living and working in Folkestone, UK. He mostly writes experimental, visual, and technology-powered poetry. He enjoys making poetry interactive and he often works with found text. The themes he explores the most are technology, politics, love, and mental illnesses. His first book, an interactive text 'The Cursory Remix' (2021, Contraband Books) has been co-written by Google Translate. His second experimental book 'The Idiotlect Dicktionary' was published by Veer in 2023. His TEDx talk 'The Power of Experimentation: Poetry for the 21st Century' is worth watching.
