Our instructor will guide you through a tasting experience like no other, helping you identify common off flavors and understand how they develop. Who should take the class? Craft Beverage Producers Brewers, vintners, and distillers and their staff. Key front of house staff that interact with customers. Advanced homebrewer and beverage enthusiasts.
What to expect: A brief talk about how we sense flavors and presentation of a flavor wheel, our dictionary of beverage attributes and flavors. We will follow up with a tasting including at least six laboratory prepared samples in beer.
The class includes a craft cocktail at the Second Act Tasting room.
About the Instructor: Rich Michaels is a seasoned Brewmaster boasting 32 years of comprehensive experience in the craft beverage industry. He is a graduate of the Siebel Institute and holds a certificate in Sensory Panel Management. He works with IDD process and Packaging, Schenectady County Community College, Mohawk Valley Community College. He is active in the New York Brewers Association and Masterbrewers Association of the Americas.
