Big Island Bees Tour
We've all heard a lot about bees lately, but how much do you really know about these amazing creatures?
Join our beekeeper for a FREE, fun, and educational exploration about beekeeping and honey, where from behind a safe, screened-in viewing area, you can view an open beehive demonstration with our bees; tour our museum of beekeeping artifacts; and taste honey at our sampling station. ***
At our honey farm you will:
-Learn the difference between drones, workers, and queens and how a hive is structured
-Meet one of our beekeepers and learn how we collect honey
-Watch a bee do a waggle dance, one important way bees communicate
-See a live beehive opened from a safe viewing area After seeing our bees up close you'll have a much better appreciation for bees, and the importance they have for our food production.
*** Reservations are required for the open beehive demonstration. The museum and sampling station are always open during our normal business hours. Tickets must be booked by 3pm the day before a tour.
