Wheel of the Year: Songs of Contemplation & Gratitude
Quincy Bog Natural Area
Rumney, NH
Share this event:

Envisioned by mezzo soprano Claire McCahan and her sister, landscape architect Molly McCahan, "Wheel of the Year: Songs of Contemplation and Gratitude" is an immersive experience which invites participants to attune to the seasonal changes of our inner and outer landscapes through music.

Inspired by the cycles of the earth, with reference to the philosophy of the wheel of the year, the events contents are crafted to reflect the qualities of the season of Lammas- the traditional first harvest. This is a time of both gratitude and worry; a time when the end of summer begins to creep in, yellowing the edges of leaves, bringing fruits to fullness. The program symmetrically arcs, beginning with group singing, followed by musical performance of folk and classical songs, and centered with time for nature exploration and reflection. Light refreshments will be available which incorporate locally-sourced ingredients.

Claire and Molly are sisters from Plymouth, NH and spent their childhoods in the streams, lakes, and forests of the Pemi-Baker Valley. After pursuing their careers and studies, they returned to New Hampshire and began envisioning a collaborative music project: this gathering, an ode to their home.
