The class of 2023 invites you to their production of CALL ME SHAKESPEARE, an original play by Grade 12 student Poppy Hufstader.
Wednesday, May 31 at 6:00pm Thursday, June 1 at 6:00pm
This world premiere performance will take place in Hazel Hall at Seattle Waldorf High School. Seating is limited; advanced tickets are strongly recommended.
Written as part of her Senior Project, Poppy Hufstader's alt-history drama CALL ME SHAKESPEARE begins in 1592, where an ambitious young actor named William Shakespeare meets a brilliant young woman, Meredith Goodfellow, and the two strike a deal to use his name--and gender--to bring her plays to the stage. CALL ME SHAKESPEARE is equal parts "Shakespeare in Love" and "Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," astoundingly confident in its voice and story, considering it is Poppy's first full-length play. Underneath its witticisms, humor, and fast-paced plot lies a slyly radical feminist ethos. Don't miss it!
Some mature themes; recommended for ages 12 and up.
Tickets are sliding scale, $0-20.
