AFP Lowcountry March Webinar
Speaker: Peter Drury, Director of Development, Splash, professor of non-profit management at University of Washington and Past President AFP Seattle Chapter
Members of a nonprofit Board of Directors, as well as critical stakeholders, can carry certain preconceptions about business (e.g., performance metrics, accounting, finance, law, and leadership) that differ subtly from the language of nonprofit professionals. This, in turn, can create a costly communication gap. In the end, board engagement in fundraising can diminish and fundraising leaders grow frustrated. Participants will learn to build a Thesaurus (for artfully adjusting their language) and a Dashboard (for reporting meaningful data in a consistent way). These tools, in turn, will transform conversations with CEOs and boards on fundraising priorities, strategies, data, and evaluation.
