COURSE OVERVIEW
If you are an IT or InfoSec professional, this course will show you how to leverage your existing knowledge to start performing forensic analysis.  If you simply want a better understanding of what computer/digital forensics is all about, you will leave this course conversant in the topic.  If you are a manager or are in a support role, this course will enable you to communicate with computer forensic experts more efficiently and understand what they are doing as well as what they can do for you. As many cases now involve Internet technologies, we will be discussing some related items that are normally overlooked as well as misinterpreted. We will also be discussing how a computer stores data and the locations that data can reside. A checklist of items to cover with computer forensic examiners/experts will be provided, as well as sample questions to assist in preparing for depositions and/or giving testimony in court.

Your instructors are computer forensic experts who conduct computer forensic analysis on a regular basis as well as provide instruction to information technology professionals, law enforcement, and the military on proper forensic analysis techniques and procedures.  There will be actual case examples covered in class.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Identify the "must do's" of computer forensics to assure that relevant evidence will be admissible in court or other legal proceedings.
2. Explain what happens when data is deleted.
3. Explain methods commonly used to destroy evidence.
4. Identify methods and procedures used for both static and live forensics.
5. Develop policies for the preservation and retention of computer evidence.
6. Create rock-solid forensic analysis reports.
7. Implement accepted computer forensic methods and procedures.
8. Identify evidence artifacts commonly overlooked and/or misinterpreted by computer forensic experts.
