Flamenco-Rasa
Join VivaFlamencoNJ for an evening of fabulous flamenco rhythms and dance joined with the classical Indian art of Bharathanatyam. Performers include: Antonia Messina (director/dancer), Seema Iyer (dancer), Olyda Espinal (dancer); Aurora Reyes (singer); Arturo Martinez (guitar); Ranendra Das (tabla), and Marc Ferranti (flute).
As a powerful, emotive art form, flamenco shares the roots of Indian dance. Both are heavily percussive, expressive and earthy, expressing the emotions of an often-repressed people.
The differences are fascinating as well, and it's rare to see East meet West in this world debut of Flamenco-Rasa, combining the best of both.
