Writing Workshop
Wheelock College: Wheelock Family Theater Building
Boston, MA
Share this event:

Sponsored by FLOW (the Fundamental Lyricists of Wheelock), spoken word artist Lissa Piercy teaches a two hour workshop designed to get your writing energy flowing! Got writers block? Stuck in a rut writing about the same topics over and over again? Never written a poem before, but want to try it out? Come check out this workshop!

About the teaching artist:
As a performer, Lissa Piercy has featured and performed at various venues in and around Boston, including the "if you can Feel it, you can Speak it" open mic (The Milky Way, Jamaica Plain), "The Lost Voices of Boston" open mic (The Middle East, Cambridge) and "Lifted Boston" (Good Life, Boston). She is a proud member and co-founder of performance poetry group Flatline Poetry and can be seen on tour with them this March!
As an instructor, Lissa designed a six week poetry curriculum for non profit organization MissionSAFE in both Roxbury and Charlestown. She is now MissionSAFE's writing instructor, teaching weekly workshops to youth. Lissa also runs Wheelock College's weekly writing workshops, and went through training with MassLEAP to become a MassLEAP teaching artist. She is excited to be offering this workshop open to any and all that are interested!

About the organization:
FLOW (the Fundamental Lyricists of Wheelock) is a Wheelock College organization that puts on monthly open mics to promote "Performance with a Purpose". This year, FLOW is working towards putting on a weekend-long poetry conference that will include performances, workshops, and info sessions. In order to do this, FLOW is hosting events like this workshop to raise money for the conference.

**All proceeds from this workshop will go towards the April PWP (Performance With Purpose) conference in April.
