AAAS Tour of Angel Island 4/19/14 - registration closed but call 510-499-7328
(Formal registration is now closed so we could get numbers to vendors. If you are still interested, please call Grant Din at 510-499-7328 or email gdin@aiisf.org and we will see what we can do so you can still enjoy the tour)
AAAS members and their guests are invited to join Charles Egan, Dan Quan, Grace Yoo and Judy Yung (subject to scheduling changes) for a true insider's tour of the former U.S. Immigration Station at Angel Island, through which hundreds of thousands of Asian and other immigrants passed, and a panel about preserving the station and recent research and discoveries.
You will receive round trip scenic ferry tickets to the island, shuttle on the island, a tour of the historic Immigration Station including barracks, grounds, and yet to be opened hospital, which is being transformed into an immigration museum. We will have panels on the history of the immigration station, how the building was preserved, and recent discoveries and findings. Tour costs include ferry and on-island transportation, a tour, panel, and box lunch.
We have cancelled the shuttle from the hotel and instead will meet at the conference registration table at 8:45 and be led to take public transportation to Pier 41. Please sign up for the "very basic" tour that costs $50.
Please register by April 11 so we can tell the cafe how many box lunches to order.
